DISTRICT STATISTICS OFFICE (BAE&S)

Introduction:

District Statistics Office, Bankura, Bureau of Applied Economics & Statistics (BAE&S), have the responsibility of performing various statistical activities around the district. There are 3 Range Offices (RO) aligned with 3 Sub-Divisions of the district viz. Sadar, Bishnupur, Khatra among which Bishnupur & Khatra Range Offices are running in separate & adequate room provided by respective SDOs in their office campus. The Sadar RO is functioning along with the District Office. At present District Statistics Office, Bankura is headed by the Joint Director.

Major Activities:

  • Conducting crop survey and crop cutting experiments of 21 major crops of the District in 4 seasons of the year viz. Bhadui (Block level), Winter (Block & GP level), Rabi(Block  level), & Summer (Block & GP level) for yield/ production estimates.
  • Prices of different products related to agriculture, livestock, are collected from different Huts of the district on monthly basis which is required for compilation of GSDP.
  • A sample check(inspection) on area enumeration survey conducted by the primary workers of DL&LRO e.g. Amins / R.I along with a check for CCEs are done in parallel with  S.O.(Govt. of India) throughout all seasons  every year under the  Improvement of Crop Statistics Scheme (ICS).
  • Production data are collected from selected factories every month for preparation of Index of Industrial Production (IIP).
  • Secondary data in prescribed formats are collected from all municipalities for preparation of Municipal Statistics as well as estimation of state domestic product every year.
  • Publication of District Statistical Hand Book (DSHB) in every year.
  • Secondary data in prescribed formats are also collected from various source offices of the district, which are required for different state level publications like Statistical Abstract, State Statistical Handbook, different Databases etc.
  • Collection of data on Minor Mineral for compilation of GSDP.
  • Collection of Budget book/Annual report of Autonomous bodies
  • Collection of monthly data of Twenty Point Program(TPP) from different source offices as per format prescribed by Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI), Govt of India.
  • Other non periodic surveys such as Impact study on Old Age/ Widow/ Disability pension, Census on Fodder Crops, Economic Census (a total count on establishment), Preparation Database on Water Supply & Sanitation Statistics, etc. are also undertaken time to time.
